About Jian Zhan

Jian Zhan, originating from Jianyang in Fujian, China, is a type of Chinese Pottery, high-fired, iron-rich stoneware tea cup renowned for their iron-rich glazes, unique kiln effects, and deep cultural heritage.


The foundation of every Jian Zhan tea cup lies in its materials. Both the clay body and glaze must contain a high level of iron, sourced specifically from the Jianyang region.


This is one of the key reasons why historical kilns outside this region failed to replicate authentic Jian Zhan—their raw materials simply lacked the necessary mineral composition.
