Wu De Tea was founded from a deep appreciation for Jian Zhan and a desire to share its beauty, history and craftsmanship with people in Singapore.
Our collection is carefully sourced from Jianyang, China—the birthplace of Jian Zhan. Rather than treating each bowl as simply another piece of teaware, we select it for its individual character, craftsmanship and distinctive kiln-fired glaze. No two pieces emerge from the kiln exactly alike.
Wu De Tea welcomes everyone, from those choosing their first Jian Zhan for a daily tea ritual to experienced collectors searching for exceptional works by skilled artisans. Our collection ranges from approachable everyday bowls to significant collector pieces, each presented with the care and information appropriate to its value.
We believe that understanding a piece is part of appreciating it. Through honest descriptions, detailed photographs, provenance and certificates where applicable, we help customers learn about the bowl, its maker and the craft behind it. Private tea sessions also allow guests to experience Jian Zhan personally and discover the quiet pleasure of drinking tea from a vessel made with skill and intention.
More than a store, Wu De Tea is a bridge between the living ceramic tradition of Jianyang and Singapore's tea community. Our purpose is to preserve the story behind the craft, build trust through thoughtful curation, and help every customer find a Jian Zhan that feels personally meaningful.
Meet the Founders
Wu De Tea was founded by Liam Wong and Valerie Lin from a shared appreciation for Jian Zhan and the traditions of Chinese tea.
We were first captivated by the individuality of each Jian Zhan. Formed through the interaction of clay, glaze and fire, every piece bears a character of its own and reflects the skill of its maker. As our understanding of this centuries-old craft deepened, so did our desire to share it with tea lovers and collectors in Singapore.
We personally curate each piece in the Wu De Tea collection, from bowls intended for everyday tea rituals to exceptional works for discerning collectors. Guided by honesty, knowledge and respect for the craft, we aim to help every customer understand the story and artistry behind the piece they choose.
Through Wu De Tea, we hope to bring the living ceramic heritage of Jianyang closer to Singapore—one meaningful tea experience at a time.
