Olive-Gold Conch Shell JianZhan Tea Bowl | 朱信丛 朱哥建盏

This extraordinary Jianzhan tea vessel by 朱信丛 (Zhū Xìn Cóng) of 朱哥建盏 breaks entirely from the traditional circular form. The body is sculpted with a distinctive pinched waist and asymmetric twist — wider at the top, narrowing and rotating mid-body before flaring gently at the base, echoing the spiral architecture of a conch shell. It is one of the rarest forms in contemporary Jianzhan craft, demanding extraordinary skill to throw, shape, and fire without collapse.

The exterior is a deep, complex olive-green suffused with fine gold-bronze hare’s fur streaks that follow the contours of the twisted walls, shimmering differently at every angle. The rim carries a warm amber edge where the glaze pools and thins.

The interior reveals a breathtaking contrast: a golden-olive ground with a deep, dark swirling pool at the centre, surrounded by concentric rings of fine silver-gold hare’s fur radiating outward like light bending around a celestial body. Looking into this bowl is like looking into a galaxy.
